Hello Everyone!! I think this is more like a book than a post... I am sorry for it being so long, but I have been so busy and just haven't been able to update my blog in some time (well mom actually). I keep thinking to, and mom and I keep talking about it, but..... Since it's so long, lets just get to the point....
I went whale watching one day at the end of March. I actually might of already said this, but I didn't have these pics at the time. Here I am with Cubby heading out to sea in search of Gray Whales migrating north. Well, I did a drawing for Captain Alex that has a Humpback Whale in it, so I told mom she needed to include a Humpback in my post to match my drawing. Mom saw these Humpbacks lunge feeding last month along with the Blue Whale off Santa Rosa Island.
Remember, I was in a Baseball League this spring, well, it is over now and I wasn't able to go to all the games due to the weather and being sick, but this was one game I was full of smiles at. I also made a new fashion statement for these chilly mornings...
Ok, well maybe not full of smiles just yet - practice isn't all that fun...
Is it my turn yet? I had a great buddy helping me from Buena High School.
Here I am full of smiles... I am going up to bat...
And I am off to first base...
I made it safe and sound...
Heading to 2nd...
I am putting my foot out to make sure I am safe..
Yep, I am safe.. Still full of smiles...
Made it to third and now on my way to home base... I don't think the person with the ball sees that I am heading there..
AND I AM SAFE!
Now it's time to play close-in left field person.. And I am still full of smiles.
My buddy makes sure I don't take my eyes off the ball...
Game Over...
Easter time...
I made this bunny basket at school..
My aide helping me make it
I took Easter pencils to school to give out to my classmates
I am making an Easter cake for my party at school
There was a lot of work to this cake...
Night before Easter, mom had me hard-boil and decorate eggs.
I was just not into making Easter eggs...
I love using the iPad at school
I won at Yathzee
In April, mom and I decided to go to the beach, so off we went. We saw some Gray Whales, and my friends; the dolphins.
There are several mom and baby pairs here with both babies riding on their moms back.
They are making their way north back up to the Bering Sea in Alaska (8,000 miles one
way).
At the beach... we saw a few Gray Whales go by.. Some of the photos of the whales below are from another day when mom was here with out me. Mom likes to come here during Gray Whale season to walk on the beach in hopes of seeing them swim by. She had a few amazing encounters with them. Next year, I hope to see them more from the beach like mom does.
One of my friends; a Bottlenose Dolphin leading/playing with the baby Gray Whale
A little breezy and chilly for me.
A little Alvin and the Chipmunks.
In May, mom went to Nashville TN while I stayed with Grandma for the weekend. Mom had a class to take, but one afternoon, she took a break and visited the zoo.. She said it was a nice zoo... I think she needs to take me there sometime. :)
Beginning of June, mom took me to the LA Zoo for the day for some sunny, hot weather. I seem to do much better in dry, really warm air... It was fun... We saw lots of babies, and mom bought me a book. I love reading books, and sharing them with my friends at school.
The Orangutans were watching me as I watched them. :)
The Elephants. It was so warm out, even for the Elephant he was playing in the water...
Getting ready to leave the zoo. I am carrying my bag with my new book in it...
This is Gracie and her 2 month old baby. This is the first baby Chimpanzee in a really long time to be born at the zoo. I don't remember the time length, but its been a really long time. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago the baby chimp past away. He was soooo CUTE... I am glad I got to see him..
Mom decided it was time to venture out on a short, close by trip to see how I do as I have been having some health issues, so we went to San Diego and Escondido. I had such a good time and did well. We got to see the baby Leopard cubs at the zoo, and the Cheetah run at the Wild Animal Park. It was nice to spend two full days outside in warm weather.
The night after the zoo, mom took Cubby and I to the mall to Build - A - Bear. I got Cubby a new beach outfit, her Olympic outfit, and had to replace one of the music pieces. I am holding my bag while I wait for Cubby to come out of surgery.
And now its my birthday! I got to celebrate my birthday over many days.. :) It was so cool! I turned 16 this year. So, here I am making cupcakes for my birthday party at school. However, I just finished flipping the bowl of cake mix right before it was ready to be stirred all over the place. Mom had to clean it all up, including me, my wheelchair, the floor, walls, cupboards, which is why I am now in my bean bag.
It was a lot of work, but fun making these rainbow cupcakes.
Getting ready to go to school for my birthday party. I am so excited even though it is my last day of school for ten days. What am I going to do?
Here I am at school celebrating my birthday!
Then on my actual birthday, my plans got canceled because of the weather, so my great grandma treated me to a manicure and pedicure. I wasn't too sure about the manicure (part of it), but for the most part, I loved it!
After my spa treatment, I went to my grandma's house and baked more cupcakes for my great grandma and grandma. I didn't flip the bowl this time, just kept putting my fingers in this one cupcake - well I was trying to tell everyone that this was going to be my cupcake. :)
My grandma and I resting while the cupcakes are in the oven.
Its time to open presents. I love presents.
I am so tired, but I am taking my great grandma, grandma and mom their cupcakes. Oh, I have my scarf that my teacher got me and headband that my great grandma got me on.
I decided to use chocolate frosting this time.
That ended my birthday day. I will be back in a week with details on what I did over my 10-day vacation.. Or maybe two weeks since mom will be leaving next week for 8 days while I stay home with grandma. I have to go to school. :)
Love, Kayla
