San Diego Zoo / Safari Meet-Ups...

Intermission part 2....
A continued break from road trip.. :)

Mom and I joined a photography group in San Diego that focuses on the San Diego Zoo and Safari Parks. We feel so blessed to have met so many nice people in the group, and we are continuing to meet more new people..

Back in September, we finally went to our first meet up at the SD Zoo. It was a photo session with a Porcupine. So cool! I got to see the Porcupine and listen to her keeper talk all about her.

Peter (group leader) and I wore our Sponge Bob shirts that day.

Here is a group shot of the people that went to this meet up..

After the meet-up, Bob, Mom and I walked around the zoo and had lunch..

That weekend, Bob (our friend), mom and I went to the Safari Park as well.

Monroe was being very dramatic..

Then in November, mom and I met up with Peter for a morning walking around the SD Zoo. We had a good time talking and looking at the animals. I was in such a good mood.. Then we met up with Helene at the Orangutans in hopes that the baby would come out, but the mom and baby decided to stay inside. Next time. We did enjoy our visit with Helene.

In November, mom and I went to the Safari Park for a group meet-up at the bird show. That was really cool. I was a bit out of it that morning, so I wasn't at my best, but I still got to participate. They lined us up in a row from shortest to tallest. We had to hold our arms straight out and up high. I really had to hold my arms up high to try to get to the same level as everyone else. Then this adorable, little bird name Trouble went hopping across our arms.. The first time, it jumped over my arms, but the second time, it hoped on my first arm, then skipped the second arm going straight to the person next to me. You can see it here in the video that our friend Jayne took.

I got to go on the walking tour behind the scenes to see all the birds.. I got to see so many different ones - lots of big, tall birds, some little birds and some in-between..

Marco, one of the keepers brought Java; a beautiful Peregrine Falcon over to me so I could see him up-close. I kind of had my eyes open for that.

Then it was time for the bird show. Lots of birds flying.. There were mice too.. Then there was a Red River Hog who keeps trying out for the bird show, but they keep telling him he can't fly. (mice and hog photo coming soon in another post).

This Macaw started the show off..

This is Heather with the Secretary Bird.

The Condor flying over the audience...

This is the group shot, and of course, I am sleeping. This photo was taken by Suzanne.

After the meet-up, mom and I went to lunch with Peter, Clark, Jayne and Jayne's mom. Then we walked around to see some other animals before leaving.

Photo above is a Lemur, of whom I am looking at in the photo below.. :)

I will add this one in even though we didn't meet up with anyone from the group.. Mom and I went to the zoo on Thanksgiving.. We had a wonderful time.

Mr. Wu loves to sleep up in the tree most of the day, so we kept going back by to see if he was awake and down from the tree. :) He finally was late afternoon.. :)
