7th Grade in Style

Last Tuesday was my first day of 7th grade. Junior High School. Can you believe that I am already 12 years old and in 7th Grade??? Mom can't.

Since I am in 7th grade this year, I decided to toss out the backpack tradition and get a messenger bag with a matching lunch box. Well that was my theory for this year since the last 9 years of school, I have had a backpack.

Grandma made me some bags this summer including this lovely one for my canopy. Its great as my canopy fits perfectly inside it and I can attach the bag to the back of my chair. Thank you Grandma! :)

I had a great first week of school.... We had two birthday parties in class which were so much fun. Ya know, I love to party. I got to listen to music, hang out with my friends, welcome a new student, help make breakfast sandwiches and spend some time outside.

My first day of school, I wore an outfit that my dad and step mom sent me. Mom took this picture of me after I got home from school.

My second day of school, I wore an outfit that my grandpa and grandma got me. Excuse the quality as mom took the next two photos with her cell phone.

(cell phone)
I am awake this morning for school. I woke up at 6am to make sure I was going to school. :) Mom doesn't usual wake me up till 8:15a.m. to put me in my chair to finish getting me ready but I was just so excited to be going to school again.

On my third day of school I wore an outfit I got for my birthday this year from my great Grandpa and great Grandma.

And on my last day of school for the week, I wore the shirt that my step mom made me. You can see all the different styles and outfits she makes at http://alaynascloset.blogspot.com.

I haven't adapted yet to my school schedule and am usually tired by the end of the week, so I am still quite sleepy in the mornings. Although, I am pretty much that way till I get to school all year around. :)

Hope to post some photos of me at school to share with you all soon. :)

Till then, have a wonderful week.

Love,
Kayla

Last days of Summer with Grandpa & Grandma

Hi Everyone....

Last Wednesday, August 13, 2008 Mommy took me to meet Grandpa & Grandma in Valencia so I could go to their house in Bear Valley Springs (Tehachapi) for a few days. Mommy went back home to get some things done and to get a break from me.

I had so much fun at Grandpa & Grandma's. They took me to 31 flavors for ice cream for the first time and I ate a lot (1-2 tbsp). It was very good (rich chocolate flavor). Grandpa, Grandma and I really enjoyed going for ice cream and since I ate a lot, they are going to take me more often. Grandma forgot the camera, so no pictures :(. Next time I will make sure Grandpa or Grandma get a photo of me eating ice cream. :)

Grandma took me to a pottery place where I could decorate my own plate, cup, bowl (I can't remember what I did). It's a surprise for mommy so she doesn't know either. :) I had a lot of fun and was very active. At one point, I hit something and it went flying in the air and paint got everywhere. I thought that was very funny :). I don't think it stains. Luckily grandma and I were the only ones in the store at that time and the owners were very nice.

I went for several walks and enjoyed watching cartoons at grandpa and grandmas.

Mommy came up Saturday morning. She first took my great grandpa to breakfast and then visited with great grandpa and great grandma for a little while. Grandma had to finish getting me ready before we could go to town to see mommy. Once I was finally ready, Grandpa, Grandma and I went to town to meet mommy at the park for the arts and crafts. I was excited to see mommy and she was to. Mommy couldn't wait to see me.

We all went back to Grandpa and Grandma's house. Mommy and Grandma took me up to the clubhouse to go swimming in the pool there. It was hot out. I loved it, but since it was late in the day we couldn't stay very long.

I love getting my head wet.. :)

Saturday evening we went over to my Grandpas sister and brother-in-laws house for a delicious bbq. Shortly after we got there, Grandpa asked me if I wanted a shoulder massage and before he even touched my shoulders I smiled really big, giggled and squealed. I love his massages!! :)

Sunday morning finally arrived which meant "swimming"! :) But first Mommy and Grandma saw a Bobcat go through the front yard, so Mommy ran out and got a picture of it with my camera running down the street towards the neighbors.

Then Grandma and Mommy took me swimming and I loved it. I kicked and splashed in the water. I had so much fun that when it was time to leave a few hours later, I was not happy one bit and I sure let my mommy and grandma know for a good 30-45 minutes. I did not want to leave, but they said it was getting to windy and cool to go swimming anymore. I was upset all the way home and for a while after getting there. I finally fell asleep and took a long nap. Mommy and I were suppose to go home after swimming, but mommy felt bad leaving the pool with me not wanting to go, so she said we could stay another night at grandma's and go swimming tomorrow before heading home. YEA!

I woke up extra early Monday morning so we could get to the pool early to go swimming. :) I went swimming a long time twice. I loved it and the weather was just warm enough for me to go. In between my swims, I laid out on the lounge chair around the pool. I love to do that too. Mommy and grandma bundle me up in the towels till I get warm and then I lay out in my swimsuit to get a tan. :)

My grandma said that I look like Princess Grace Kelly, who was married to Prince Rainier III of Monoco.

It was time to leave and I didn't mind at all. I was so tired, I just wanted to go back to grandma's house and be rocked for a long nap.

After I woke up, Mommy and I headed home as I start school on Tuesday, August 19th, 2008. (7th Grade) :)

Kayla

Ventura County Fair.....

It's that time of year again when the fair comes to Ventura for all of us young ones, and of course you older folks to enjoy..... The rides, the animals, games, food.... Mom and I decided to take a journey down the path to the county fair....

It was a beautiful day and I was definitely ready for an adventure..... But before we headed down the path, I just had to have mom give me a pedicure because my red painted toe nails didn't have much red on them anymore..... So here I am getting a pedicure with the final results:

Okay.... Back to the fair....

The first thing mom and I watched were the Turkey Races... These guys were funny and big.... Did you know that the larger turkeys (the ones that end up in the store at Thanksgiving) kill rattlesnakes? We didn't know that. I called my grandpa and grandma to let them know that they needed to get a pet Turkey so it would keep the rattlesnakes away. :)

I saw so many animals......

I went to sleep in the pig area. Not too exciting...

So off to the Children;s Barnyard area.. A little more suitable for me. :)

The Chickens.....

Oh... speaking of chickens... Okay, so I am only 12 years old and haven't been around that long, so my knowledge of Chickens is a little rough, but my mom has been around quite some time. She was very involved in the county fairs growing up with animals, in FFA, 4-H, etc and she has never seen these kind of chickens before either:

Ok... so its not the best photo of the chicken, but mom is still getting used to my camera and the cages were super small, so not much room to get a good photo, so this is as good as it gets... :) I marked where the beak of the chicken is. :)

Moving on and still having a great time.... :)

The Goats...... Bambi; the mother of Jersey who is 2 weeks old....

Peanut, the 6 month old baby calf.....

Annie, the baby Donkey.... I can't remember how old she is, but isn't she adorable?

We didn't see the baby pigs on the other side as it was very crowded and never did seem to let up. I was just fine with that as I am not too crazy about pigs.. :)

We haven't been to the fair for several years, but the last time we went they didn't have an aquarium nor during the years mom was involved with the fair... But this year there was an aquarium.... It was really cool and had some neat fish tanks.. People were able to enter different types and styles of fish tanks. There was a Sponge Bob one there, but too high to get a decent photo of... For those of you that don't know, I love Sponge Bob.. :)

We saw some friends while strolling around the fair....

And we did some window shopping and picked up two fish.... I was so excited to be given 2 fish... I named them Sponge Bob and Dora...

And that completes my day at the fair... I think spending 6 hours there is long enough... Time to go home.. :):)

Thank you all for visiting.... :)

Til next time... Have a wonderful week.....

Love,
Kayla
