Hello Everyone!
Well, I have officially graduated from high school (Class of 2014), and already started "college" (post secondary) school. I had 3 weeks of summer school, and am not on summer vacation (7 weeks worth - yuck).
Friday, the week before my high school graduation, my class and the class next to me had a graduation party. It was pretty cool and that is when I got my high school diploma. :)
The following week I was busy preparing for graduation.. I got my hair done, including a few purple streaks in it, but no pink.
Its a good time for a nap..
Then the big day came. I wasn't crazy about not being able to go to school that morning, and it really through me for a loop, but once I got to school, into the swing of things, I loved it!
Unfortunately, I am on the far, opposite side of mom..
I am going up on stage to get my diploma.. :)
You can just make me out. I am next to the gal in the black shirt sitting next to me with long brown hair. :)
This is my grandpa and Sue.. Unfortunately, I didn't get pics with everyone.
My high school teacher and I.
My aide for my junior and senior years, and my high school teacher.
After my graduation, my mom, grandma, great grandma, grandpa and his wife Sue and mom and my friend Kevin went to the Ventura Harbor to eat dinner. After dinner, Kevin, mom and I walked around and went for ice cream. People were telling me congratulations for graduating from high school.
The day after graduation was moving day. People came and helped mom load up the moving truck and my car. Mom and I drove that evening half way to San Diego before stopping for the night. It was really fun to ride in the moving truck with mom, Cubby and Mickey.
We got up the next morning to finish our journey to San Diego. Mom's cousin and a few others came over to help us move in to our new place. Grandma came later in my car to help and stay a few days .
While grandma was here, mom, mom's cousin; Chad and I went to the zoo. Yay! It was so much fun, and we were in for a special treat..
While we were on the shuttle coming back up the hill from the Panda's, we heard that a Giraffe was in labor, so we rushed over to there after we got off the shuttle and watched the baby Giraffe being born. It was a boy! My favorite part though was listening to the squeaky brakes of all the shuttles, tour buses going by. I thought it was so funny. Luckily I had that to entertain me while I waited and waited and waited for the baby giraffe to be born (1 hour 45 minutes).
This is where things were at when we arrived on scene..
This was about an hour in a half after we arrived... The baby giraffe is about 6 feet tall when born since they must drop from the mom. The baby needs to break the umbilical cord, so they do that by dropping.
The Gazelles just finished lunch and came over to see what was going on. There were about 6 - 8 of them, and they all gathered and walked around baby and mom. A few times, they wouldn't move out of mom's way of taking pictures. Silly them..
Barely a minute old here...
Two minutes old..
4 minutes old..
5 minutes old..
15 minutes old..
22 minutes old..
23 minutes old..
27 minutes old..
Once the baby giraffe was born, it kept trying to stand up. After about 6 tries, grandma, mom and I decided to go get lunch and check back on him afterwards.
When we returned (90 minutes old), he was standing and figuring out how to nurse. He was successful..
95 minutes old, and nursing..
Summer school has come and gone.. The first two weeks were rocky, but I had a great last week. Of course, it was my 18th birthday too. :) Grandma and mom took me shopping for my birthday. So much fun, and I got so many cute outfits, especially summery stuff now that I live where it is HOT.
Until next time... Good night... Love, Kayla
